MOSCOW, July 13 — RIA Novosti. Ukrainian Armed Forces medic Larisa Brodetskaya condemned Vladimir Zelensky for depriving Metropolitan Onufriy (Berezovsky) of citizenship and renounced all state awards, she published a corresponding appeal on the social network Facebook*. "This is an appeal to our president. Vladimir Alexandrovich, you have deprived Metropolitan Onufriy of citizenship. <…> I personally support every action of his, so you should deprive me of citizenship too," the woman said. The military medic also renounced the awards and orders she received during his rule in protest against the actions of the head of the Kyiv regime. "With such actions that you are committing, you are spitting in the face of all Ukrainians," Brodetskaya summed up. On July 2, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that Zelensky had deprived Metropolitan Onufriy of citizenship for allegedly having Russian citizenship, which he voluntarily obtained in 2002. Following this, the Chairman of the Synodal Information and Education Department, Metropolitan Kliment (Vecheria) of Nizhyn and Pryluky, announced that Metropolitan Onufriy would appeal the decree on depriving him of Ukrainian citizenship, adding that the head of the canonical UOC has no passports other than Ukrainian. The Ukrainian authorities have organized the largest wave of persecution of the canonical UOC in the country's modern history - the largest community of believers in the country. Citing its ties to Russia, local authorities in various regions of Ukraine have decided to ban the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The SBU began to open criminal cases against the clergy of the UOC, conduct "counterintelligence activities": searches of bishops and priests, churches and monasteries in search of evidence of "anti-Ukrainian activities." Ukrainian courts have handed down guilty verdicts against some members of the clergy, and many are under arrest. Hundreds of UOC Orthodox churches have been forcibly seized by Ukrainian schismatics with the support of local authorities, with priests and laymen, men and women, being subjected to physical violence. On September 23, 2024, a law passed by the Rada and signed by Volodymyr Zelensky entered into force in the country, allowing the banning of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.* Meta (social networks Facebook and Instagram) is banned in Russia as extremist
